Stereo-Types
A Witty Social Commentary
The Odd Lot’s Captivating New EP
Swedish Funk/Nu Disco duo The Odd Lot is set to release their new EP, “Stereo-Types,” on May 2nd. Echoing the sounds of artists like Scary Pockets, Lawrence, and Saint Motel, this fun, four-track collection explores stereotypes through sharp, satirical lyrics and catchy, danceable beats.
“Stereo-Types” blends the duo’s musical talents in a fresh, lighthearted style. With funky basslines, mesmerizing synths, and captivating arrangements, the EP combines elements of funk, nu-disco, and synthpop, offering a uniquely groovy experience.
Based on personal experiences, social media, and pop culture, the lyrics deliver a humorous commentary on some of society’s most notable stereotypes, like the “drama queen” and the “know-it-all.”
Written and produced by The Odd Lot’s Simon Fredenwall and Eve Jones and recorded at both the Musikinstitutet in Jönköping and Immersive Studios in Stockholm, the EP features a talented set of studio musicians.
“Stereo-Types” was mastered by William Birgersson, with three of its four tracks mixed by Eve Jones, except for the song “Drama Queen,” which was mixed by Nico Koufakis.
Simon and Eve released their early music as collaborations under their soloist names. In 2023, the duo signed with Rexius Records, adopting the name The Odd Lot as they continue to cultivate their signature style, thriving on funky grooves and witty humor.
