“Luka” – A Moving Rendition
Shalisa Taylor’s Poignant New Release
Swedish singer-songwriter Shalisa Taylor is set to release her cover of Suzanne Vega’s iconic song “Luka” on May 24th. Known for its moving narrative on emotional and physical abuse, the track is beautifully reimagined by Shalisa, crafting a version that resonates with the intimate acoustic styles of artists like The Staves and Kacey Musgraves.
With her touching vocal performance and acoustic arrangements, Shalisa brings a tender touch to “Luka,” using her silky voice to intricately weave through the song’s vivid lyrics. Reflecting on the track, Shalisa says, “My personal relationship with the song started when my dad showed it to me when I was younger. Ever since then, I’ve wanted to cover it. It’s a song I love, and it has followed me throughout my life.”
Produced by Fabian Santacruz at Barcelona’s Green Music Studio and featuring Shalisa’s vocal arrangements recorded in Stockholm, the song maintains the authenticity and intimacy of her musical style. The song’s mixing and mastering were meticulously handled by Henrik Tran.
Shalisa Taylor has been captivating audiences since her debut in 2016 with the single “Fight,” which quickly climbed to the top 10 on Sweden’s P3 radio station. After signing with Rexius Records in 2017, she has released several singles and a self-titled EP, gaining recognition on Spotify editorial playlists and international music blogs.
Don’t miss the release of “Luka” on May 24th, a soul-stirring rendition that promises to captivate listeners worldwide with its deeply moving interpretation.
