Kull et Amicae – The Magic of a Unique Ensemble
A Captivating Vision in Swedish Indie Pop
Kull et Amicae is a Swedish indie pop group that transforms personal angst into universal art. Echoing the sounds of artists like Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Bird, and Beirut, the group’s expressive, brass-heavy songs create immersive and ethereal soundscapes that captivate fans of alternative, chamber, and baroque pop alike.
Forged by the creative vision of Jonathan Kull, the group channels his musical ideas and reflective songwriting into a unique sound. A lifelong music lover, Kull started playing the trumpet at age 9, attributing his passion to his parents’ influence. “There was always music playing at our home,” he confesses.
Crafting songs about his depression and its impact on his life, as well as his frustrations with society and LGBTQIA issues, Jonathan enlisted the collaboration of various friends to form the unique ensemble. Together, they provide an artistic outlet that has become part of Kull’s healing journey. “I use my music creation a lot as therapy,” he confesses.
After a forced hiatus due to the COVID pandemic, Kull et Amicae released its debut album “This is Fine” in 2023. At the end of that same year, the group signed with Rexius Records, ready to continue sharing their unique sound with the world.
