Stay

On conflict and relationships

Swedish singer/songwriter Aleco returns with “Stay”, a reflective song about a relationship crisis. With emotionally mature and heartfelt lyrics that remind of Hozier’s lyrical expressiveness, the song’s intimate sound portrays a window to the artist’s soul.

Speaking on the song’s lyrics, the artist relays, “Stay is about being far away from each other or close in matters of feelings”. Inspired by a personal experience, the track conveys the emotional ambiguity felt through a couple’s challenging moments, “It explains my feelings about how sometimes a struggle between closeness and distance between two people in a relationship can be”.

Recorded entirely in his home, the artist enlisted the help of his friend, producer Rikard Mathisson for the final production stages. On the creative process, Aleco confesses, “You always learn stuff from yourself during a songwriting process. Sometimes I understand a lyric better after I recorded it or sang it”.

With a long and varied music trajectory on his shoulders including highlights such as his role in the rock band Stonepark from 2000 to 2009, and his part in the duo Aleco and Mathisson from 2016 to 2018, the singer continues his solo career, which he kickstarted with the release of the EP “Aleco” In 2009 and resumed with the single “Det Andas” in 2019.

The artist got signed to Gothenburg-based Rexius Records in 2021. He is now preparing for the release of “Stay” on August 19th.
