Fox Indigo: Embracing Hope and the Beauty of Sadness
A Musical Journey Through the Heart of NYC
Fox Indigo is an American indie folk-rock artist whose music embodies a unique blend of hope and beautiful sadness. Influenced by artists like Regina Spektor, Fleet Foxes, and Sufjan Stevens, her songs are a reflection of her true essence and the vibrant energy of New York City, where her artistic journey has flourished.
With a diverse range of influences, Fox Indigo’s music weaves together various musical styles and genres, including jazz, classical, folk, rock, and funk. As a classically trained musician, her piano-driven songs are not only enriched by her deep musical knowledge but also by her profound fascination with music in all its forms.
Her music speaks of heartbreak, mistakes and life lessons, finding an inherent beauty and hope in all of it. She explains, “I tend to find that there’s beauty in sadness and sadness in beauty, so even songs that sound happy have an undercurrent of sadness. At the same time, my sad songs still retain an element of hope.”
Inspired by the unique blend of harshness and warmth, solitude and community, pain and beauty that is the spirit of New York, the city’s influence imbues Fox Indigo’s songs with a distinct authenticity and a profound connection to the human experience.
Fox Indigo previously co-fronted American Fever, a NYC-based indie-rock band that opened for Gotye at Rockwood Music Hall in 2019. She is also working towards her Master’s degree in Music Composition for Film & Video Games.
During the pandemic, she wrote, recorded, performed, engineered, and mixed her first solo album in her bedroom. In 2022, she signed with Rexius Records, further propelling her on a journey of exploration and creative growth.
